it's done!
So, I’m ashamed to admit it, but I think David and I both clocked over 40 hours on this project. What a hoss. My conclusions about painting the trim white in our basement are as follows (and some of you have heard this already because I like to complain about things and make others share in my pain):
This process was every bit as horrible and awful as I imagined it was going to be.
The end result is completely worth every hesitation I ignored, every minute of having a sore butt from sitting on the floor for so long, and every paint drip I had to scrape off my hands.
From start to finish, it took about 8 times longer than I expected. If you have buil-ins, any built-ins at all, this is not a one-weekend project.
This is painting position, people. I think it’s best if you inhale the fumes from the paint as you go, so as to confuse your senses and make you think you are NOT miserable.
The big-A built-in bookcase. My least favorite. After two coats of primer, I believe.
Honey, what should we do with all the stuff on the shelves while we paint? Oh, put it on the floor? Ok.
And to finish off this post and make me feel better by looking at the dramatic difference, some before and afters:
I’ll take a few months off from painting, okay? What’s that you say? I have to do the walls next? Ai…
