the mcelravy family

welcome, rupert!

I am a HUGE McElravy Family fan. They are bursting with authenticity, the kids are totally unique, allowed to be themselves, and ready to throw you a curveball without a moment’s notice (my favorite). L.J. and Emily just give each other a smile and go with it all.

They recently welcomed baby Rupert to the fun and he is a tiny wonder. You can see from his adorable face that he is intent on taking in everything going on around him with a kind of hungry energy. Also, he’s so darn cute!

Emily, you have got this whole mothering-three-kids thing in the bag. What a pro! I love watching you with your little ones, and of course you make it look easy. They are the luckiest to have you!

Well, if it isn’t sweet, puppy-loving Harriet! This photo was per her request, thoughtfully staged one stuffy at a time brought into the nursery from her room, and I was more than happy to oblige. She is a *smidge* into all things dog, in case you couldn’t tell.

Sorensen is wasting no time transitioning his role from the youngest to the middle child. He was, of course, born for it, with his silly, fun-loving nature!

This. A very real family portrait. I’m in love.

Full disclosure: while many of these snapshots show the in-between moments, baby Rupert was quite unhappy during the majority of the session. You know? He’s allowed to have a fussy morning. What calmed him most aside from essential time with mom? This snuggled up hold with dad. Moving him from this position resulted in forceful opinions. I think he likes, you, L.J.! 😉

Rupert’s stare is a THING! This boy’s gonna have some real intensity, I can feel it in my bones. I’m going to say it again: he’s so cute.

Oh, McElravy family, you made this so much fun! Congratulations on your sweet new addition, and thank you for sharing him with me!
